Serco’s contract-killer access card service to U.S. Army
“Your Mission. Our Passion. Serco supports the Army’s critical Common Access Card (CAC) program by providing CAC operators assistance in issuing CAC and other identification materials at almost 100 locations worldwide. On a higher level, Serco supports the Army’s CAC program manager through the operation of CAC Mobile Assistance Teams (CAC MAT) that visit Army installations to evaluate compliance and to train all CAC operators, including Serco employees, Army civilians, and Soldiers. The CAC MAT initiative has helped the Army to improve its CAC operation and avoid problems that might jeopardize security at Army installations. http://www.serco-na.com/docs/

“The Fort Hood shooting was a mass murder that took place on November 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, the most populous U.S. military installation in the world, located just outside Killeen, Texas. In the course of the shooting, a single gunman killed 13 people and wounded 29 others. It is the worst shooting ever to take place on an American military base.
The sole suspect is Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old U.S. Army major serving as a psychiatrist. He was shot and taken into custody by Department of the Army Civilian Police officers. Due to injuries from being wounded, he is paralyzed from the waist down. Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder under theUniform Code of Military Justice; he may face additional charges at court-martial. If he is convicted, he could be given the death penalty.
Several individuals, including Senator Lieberman, General
McCaffy, and others have called the event a "terrorist attack". Investigations before and after the shooting discovered e-mail communications between Hasan and the Yemen-based cleric Anwar al-Awlaki who had been monitored by the NSA as a security threat. The communications were judged by law enforcement to be within Hasan's field of research.
Separately, Awlaki has been linked to the perpetrator of the attempted bombing of Northwest Airlines Flight 253. After he was identified as an Al Qaeda terrorist commander, Awlaki was identified by the United States as a target and was killed by drone in 2011. The Department of Defense and federal law enforcement agencies have classified this as an act of workplace violence. They have declined requests from families to categorize it as act of terrorism, or motivated by militant Islamic religious convictions.”
