TAPI Pipeline - The Real Reason for 4 More Years of War
December 20, 2010
TAPI Gas Pipeline Deal Signed
Indian energy minister Murli Deora, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Turkmen President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and Afghan President Hamid Karzai after signing TAPI agreement in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 11 December 2010
BROKEN PROMISES - Vietnam War veteran Dave Hancock protests at the White House on December 16. More than 60 percent of the American people are opposed to the Afghan War, according to a recent Washington Post poll. The Obama administration, elected on the promise to withdraw U.S. troops by July 2011, now says the U.S. will maintain combat troops in Afghanistan until December 2014. On December 17, the House passed a defense authorization bill (by a 341-48 vote) that authorizes the Pentagon to spend nearly $160 billion on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2011 without major restrictions on the conduct of operations. Why are U.S. (and NATO) troops being kept in Afghanistan for another 4 years? What's really going on there?
As I have reported since shortly after 9/11, the real reason for the U.S. invasion and occupation of Afghanistan is to build and secure a 1,080-mile long gas pipeline designed to carry trillions of dollars of Israeli-owned gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India. In a 2009 article entitled "Why Afghanistan" I wrote about the role of Israeli intelligence in the TAPI gas pipeline project and its connection to 9/11:
Following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Israeli agents sought to gain control of the strategic assets of the newly independent Soviet republics. In mineral-rich Turkmenistan, a Mossad agent named Yosef A. Maiman was very successful in gaining control of the republic's immense resources of natural gas.
Yosef Maiman, born in Germany in 1946, grew up in Peru and studied in the United States before becoming an Israeli citizen in 1971. As an agent of Israeli intelligence, Maiman heads a network of Mossad-controlled companies that serve Israeli interests. As the chief executive of the Merhav Group, Maiman has controlled the development of Turmenistan's gas resources. Maiman's key colleagues at Merhav are the former head of the Mossad, Shabtai Shavit, and Nimrod Novik, chief adviser to Shimon Peres, the current president of Israel.
Maiman was described as "a leading miner" of Central Asian gas fields by the Jerusalem Post in 2004. Given their control of the immense gas resources of Turkmenistan, Maiman, Merhav, and the Mossad would all profit if and when the U.S.-led coalition were able to "pacify" and control Afghanistan so that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline could be built allowing the gas of Turkmenistan to be sold to energy-hungry India. The TAPI pipeline project would bring billions of dollars into Mossad coffers every year. This is the real reason for the war in Afghanistan and why the Zionist-controlled Obama administration has increased the war effort in Central Asia. It has nothing to do with terrorism or 9-11.The false-flag terror attacks of 9/11 were part of a strategic Israeli operation to bring the U.S. military into Afghanistan on a long-term mission on behalf of Israel’s Turkmenistan gas enterprise. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline is the real reason that U.S. soldiers are fighting and dying in the southwestern Afghan provinces of Helmand and Kandahar. 9/11 was just the cover story for this pre-planned war of aggression - and it is nothing but a complete hoax.
The TAPI pipeline is planned to be built along the Herat-Kandahar highway across western and southern Afghanistan.
FATALITIES BY PROVINCE - The route of the proposed TAPI gas pipeline is exactly where most U.S. troops have died in Afghanistan (the blood red provinces of Helmand and Kandahar) . Americans, Canadians, and Europeans are fighting and dying in Afghanistan (and Pakistan) for Israeli profits. Source: Operation Enduring Freedom, iCasualties.org
According to a recent audit, the gas reserves of the fields (largely controlled by Mossad’s Yosef Maiman and the Merhav Group) stand at between 4 and 14 trillion cubic metres. Under the pipeline framework agreement, Pakistan and India will each receive 1,325 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of gas, while Afghanistan will receive 500 mmcfd. According to the deal, the pipeline will have a diameter of 56 inches and will stretch over a distance of 1,640 kilometres from Turkmenistan to Fazilka in India. The pipeline is expected to commence gas flow by 2015. “The Afghanistan government has guaranteed that it will deploy at least 5,000 troops for the protection of the pipeline within its territory,” said Naveed Qamar, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources.
On December 11, a preliminary agreement was signed in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, by representatives of the four countries to proceed with plans for the American and Israeli-backed pipeline. Here are the basic points about the TAPI pipeline:
Construction of pipeline will be completed by 2014 (note this is the new end-date given for the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan, but don't believe it)
1,680 kilometer gas pipeline will supply 3.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day (much of this gas will come from Israeli/Mossad-owned gas fields in Turkmenistan, meaning immense profits for the Mossadniks who pulled off 9/11)

BALKANIZATION OF AF-PAK REGION
U.S. GANGSTER DIPLOMACY - U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage threatened to bomb Pakistan "back to the stone age" unless it joined the fight against al-Qaeda. General Musharraf said that Armitage delivered the threat to Pakistan's intelligence director. "The intelligence director told me that Mr Armitage said, 'Be prepared to be bombed. Be prepared to go back to the Stone Age'," Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf said. Armitage is most likely the same diplomat who threatened the Afghan government two months before 9/11 - "You will either accept our carpet of gold or we will carpet-bomb you."
The C.I.A.'s armchair warriors bomb targets in Pakistan on a daily basis and the United States has 3,000 Special Forces in Pakistan, according to Zainab Cheema’s recent article entitled "Return of Musharraf And Pakistan’s Balkanization" about what the Zionist "War on Terror" and Mossad's TAPI project really mean for Pakistan:
Pakistan has been turned into a war-on-terror parking lot: 3000 American Special Forces units operate in Pakistan at the present. Pakistan’s politicos have always shown remarkable generosity in passing down the costs of their decision-making to the people. Guantanamo is a thriving industry in Pakistan and the foremost field of Pakistan-US collaboration. Pakistan’s police, army and frontier corps are part of the American security system in Pakistan...
Pakistan’s balkanization is just as much about keeping rivals out as it is about securing the best perch in the playground. The Iran-Pakistan Friendship pipeline (IP) in the works (formerly the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline before the US weaned away India with its nuclear fuel deal) is planning its route through Balochistan. While Pakistan can occasionally make such inconvenient deals with a neighbor that Israel and the US are determined to exterminate, the groomed Balochi tribes would follow more the acceptable Karzai pattern of subservient obedience. Meanwhile, terrorizing the PK is laying the ground for the US’s own pipeline project snaking its way through Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).Sources and Recommended Reading:

Four years later: The Syria production
February 20, 2014
Just for a moment drop all pretenses about God, religion, Christianity, Jews, Muslims, "terrorism"... and put a laser-like focus on commerce and energy. It is also encouraged to go to all the url-linked articles that have been included below. This is an update on Christopher Bollyn's material on the pipeline construction projects.
The U.S. is being isolated by the BRICS (Brazil; Russia; India; China; South Africa) nations, while Russia is defending its Heartland: two superpowers are competing for natural gas extraction and pipeline construction megaprojects in the Levant region. The Anglo-American proxy states of Qatar and Saudi Arabia are financing thousands of fanatical Islamic Jihadis who are currently wrecking Syria but are themselves being annihilated by a formidable Syrian Arab Army and their NDF (National Defense Force).
Gas pipeline construction was intended on going through the Syrian cities of Damascus, Homs, and Aleppo and the Russians through Gazprom will not walk away from their gas projects in Syria and risk losing lucrative control over the region's natural gas resources along with the resources in the Caspian Basin especially in Turkmenistan. Richard Armitage mentioned above in Christopher Bollyn's article, has connections to all this going back at least ten years. Richard Armitage along with Walter B. Slocombe write in their policy paper (PDF file) that: "...the most important connection between Israel and U.S. economic interests is natural gas."
Here is Richard Armitage's other well know quote allegedly told to the Taliban (Taliban were outsiders apparently and brought into Afghanistan by the CIA - the Taliban being a force manufactured in Pakistan by the ISI with support from the CIA) leadership of Afghanistan just months before American B52 bombers started pulverizing Afghanistan along the intended path where gas pipelines are going to be built competing with Russia's Gazprom: "You can take the offer either with a carpet of Gold or a Carpet of Bombs." Call it "construction on the cheap." If the American military-industrial complex, in thrall to "U.S. Gangster Diplomacy"wants Syria bombed, the gangsters will more than likely get their way. All the American military bases have been injected into Afghanistan along side natural gas pipeline construction projects, while the Afghan opium trade fuels further obscene profits.
Here is another interesting connection. The co-author of the paper (linked below the next image) is Robert D. Blackwill. Robert D. Blackwill and Richard Holbrooke work for Kissinger & Associates (See Dean Henderson's The International: Oil, Drugs, Guns & Kissinger Associates, February 19, 2014). Let's just call them the "gas men" for short - or resource monopolists.
Richard Holbrooke - A Zionist Running The War In Afghanistan http://pkpolitics.com/discuss/topic/richard-holbrooke-the-zionist-running-the-war-in-afghanistan
Robert D. Blackwill and CFR member Walter B. Slocombe prepared a survey of Israel and America's strategic relationship, published in 2011. The link below (to the PDF file), after scrolling down just a bit, identifies this "strategic relationship" and the importance of cooperation between the United States and Israel. Walter Slocombe and Robert Blackwill point out that "ensuring the free flow of oil and gas at reasonable prices...." When you get to the URL link, scroll down to the reference to natural gas being critically important to Israel–U.S. mutual interests.

Question: How many folks had already heard of the Merhav Group – mentioned by Christopher Bollyn in his above article that first appeared in December, 2010? Let's go to the country of Turkmenistan for a minute. The Israel-based company the Merhav Group has many production and pipeline construction contracts for natural gas in Turkmenistan, for which Yosef A. Maiman has been the catalyst.
The fourth largest producer of natural gas in the world is Turkmenistan. It should also be understood that Russia's Gazprom also has large natural gas production contracts in Turkmenistan in the region of Ashgabat on the Caspian Sea.
Turkmenistan (Turkmen: Türkmenistan), formerly also known as Turkmenia (Russian: Туркмения), is one of the Turkic states in Central Asia. Until 1991, it was a constituent republic of the Soviet Union, the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic (Turkmen SSR). Turkmenistan is one of the six independent Turkic states. It is bordered by Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south and southwest, Uzbekistan to the east and northeast, Kazakhstan to the north and northwest and the Caspian Sea to the west. The Merhav Group has been involved in Turkmenistan's natural gas industry for years and as a consequence there are some very strange bedfellows that are being made that nobody would suspect. While this proxy war on Syria has most of our attention including Turkey's involvement in allowing their country to be a staging area for Jihadis moving through the region into Syria, the Merhav Group had a $100 million dollar project with Turkey related to natural gas production. Another strange bedfellow is PetroSaudi International Ltd founded in 2005 by Tarek Essam Ahmad Obaid and is incorporated in the British Virgin Islands.
PetroSaudi International Ltd is a privately owned oil exploration and production company with offices in Saudi Arabia, Britain, and Switzerland. Tarek Essam Ahmad Obaid is located in London. PetroSaudi International Ltd is owned apparently by the son of King Abdallah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud which could not be confirmed. The Merhav Group is run by former Mossad intelligence officer Yosef Maiman. The Arab kingdom and Israel working closely together in gas and oil exploration does certainly raise an eyebrow? PetroSaudi International Ltd and the Merhav Group have "negotiated a partnership through intermediaries" to explore the Serdar field that straddles the border between Turkmenistan and oil-rich Azerbaijan. The accounting firm KPMG does the auditing for PetroSaudi revealed in an article on a debt bond issue involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), a Malaysian company and PetroSaudi to finance a venture. PetroSaudi was in an oil and gas exploration venture with 1MDB and this Malaysian company has subsequently been accused of being a "giant ponzi scheme" involving RM6 billion in a deal in which 1MDB was financing through bonds PetroSaudi.
In 2004, The Jerusalem Post described Maiman as a "familiar figure in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat, as a leading figure in Central Asia's gas sector."
Analysis: Turkmenistan and Gazprom
But actually, Turkmenistan is nothing compared to the grand prize of them all: Balochistan, which is a part of Pakistan.
REBRANDING THE LONG WAR, Part 2 http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/KE09Df03.html
Balochistan is the ultimate prize
By Pepe Escobar
PART 1: Obama does his Bush impression
It's a classic case of calm before the storm. The AfPak chapter of Obama's brand new OCO ("Overseas Contingency Operations"), formerly GWOT ("global war on terror") does not imply only a surge in the Pashtun Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). A surge in Balochistan as well may be virtually inevitable. [should probably change the name from Balochistan to "drone alley"]
Balochistan is totally under the radar of Western corporate media. But not the Pentagon's. An immense desert comprising almost 48% of Pakistan's area, rich in uranium and copper, potentially very rich in oil, and producing more than one-third of Pakistan's natural gas, it accounts for less than 4% of Pakistan's 173 million citizens. Balochs are the majority, followed by Pashtuns. Quetta, the provincial capital, is considered Taliban Central by the Pentagon, which for all its high-tech wizardry mysteriously has not been able to locate Quetta resident "The Shadow", historic Taliban emir Mullah Omar himself.Yosef A. Maiman is President and CEO of the Merhav Group of Companies (Signals Intelligence). Merhav is an Israeli based multi-national corporation with a global outlook working closely with Egypt in natural gas production. During its 25 year track record in the development, implementation and operation of a large volume of projects in often difficult economic problems Merhav has become a sophisticated project developer (enormous including gas production in Turkmenistan) in the areas spanning from energy, infrastructure, agriculture industry and telecommunications.
Mr. Maiman holds a masters degree in economics from Cornell University in New York and a BA in economics from the University of Texas. His previous job experience prior to the founding of the Merhav Group in 1976 included work with the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, Standard Oil, [Rockefeller interests] Citibank [City of London] Diners Club and Israel's Sonol, an Israeli fuel provider and the country's third largest gas station chain.Yosef A. Maiman plays a leading role in Israeli politics as a private citizen, working with present and past Israeli government leaders on business strategy, cross-border business development and international economic issues.
Yosef Maiman, President, Merhav Group
According to OpenSecrets.org, the Merhav Group paid out in total US$180,000 to the powerful Washington DC-based political lobbying group Cassidy & Associates reported as of 2013. Cassidy & Associates is known in Washington as the "creator and proprietor of the most lucrative lobbying firm in Washington." Merhav according to Cassidy & Associates web site is listed in the oil and gas sector. Cassidy & Associates took in over US$30 million in 2001 at the time of the attack on September 11, 2001 when the war on Iraq and Afghanistan were in their final planning stages.
Mr. Yosef A. Maiman is a board member of the Middle East Task Force of the New York Council on Foreign Relations. This policy paper is linked above written in 2011 by the Washington Institute of Near East Policy. [AIPAC think tank and its current mission: destabilize Syria] Mr. Yosef A. Maiman is Honorary Consul of Peru and Special ["special" means being in on the oil and gas deals/contracts being cut in Turkmenistan; and if they don't get the deals they want they send in the CIA/Mossad/NATO to "dismantle" current arrangements until they give into concessions re: Ukraine is currently being destabilized] Ambassador for the Government of Turkmenistan. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of Ben Gurion University, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Policy Institute for Counter Terrorism. [Israel is alleged to be behind directing some of the foreign Islamic Jihadis rampaging in Syria]Here is some further background information for Yosef A. Maiman:
U.S./Middle East Project, Inc - International Board - Yosef A. Maiman http://www.usmep.us/international_board/Yosef_A_Maiman.php
There is much more of Yosef A. Maiman's history who is alleged to be an ex-Mossad asset as previously mentioned. What people often do not realize is that the Mossad operates just like any other intelligence agency within the organizations of corporations like the Merhav Group and work as engineers, scientists, computer programers and gas and oil engineers. He was born in Germany and moved to South America (Peru). Later, he left for the United States where he was educated and then later became an Israeli citizen. Yosef A. Maiman has close ties to the powerful political action group AIPAC.
Qatar is floating in LNG (Liquid Natural Gas). It has over 77 billion tons in reserve and that is with a moratorium in place. Natural gas is cheap, it's the construction projects which is where the real money is. The problem is that Qatar desperately wants to sell its LNG to the EU and the hot Mediterranean markets. Russia's Gazprom seems to have that market all sewn up. Qatar has sunk $3 billion dollars into financing the foreign Islamic Jihadis to destroy Syria. Not bring in an opposition government to see reform take place in Syria. It's about destruction of the existential type. We are seeing the different "groups" in Syria aligned with Qatar and Saudi Arabia (Wahhabi Islamic lunatics launched out of Saudi Arabia) and now Iraq that have started attacking each other in Syria for control of supply chains and control over their assertions about building a Caliphate in the region.
Qatar's Sheikh Hamad and his wife (centre) being greeted by Bashar and Asma al-Assad in Syria, 2008
The thousands of foreign Jihadis motivated by a monthly mercenary payment and a chance to build their version of a Caliphate in the region of the Levant probably don't have a clue in the world they are canon fodder and the complexities involved in these enormous construction projects revolving around natural gas production and pipeline development. Many also are motivated by Islam which has been weaponized sending them into Syria from an astounding number of countries because of reports they have heard through the media or their local mosques how the "Syrian regime" is "trotting and killing their fellow Islamic brothers and sisters." As Allah demands them they must then head to Syria on the Jihad quest in the name of "justice" and "righteousness."
The road to Damascus will come through AIPAC and their think tanks as well as their intimidation of congressmen for a bombing run and cruise missile strike over Syria. When they cut loose with cruise missiles watch three cities get pulverized: Damascus, Homs and Aleppo. One big problem though is that Russia will not allow the Anglo-Americans to manipulate an Islamic Jihadi proxy war through Russia's southern borders including in Syria and that is probably why Russia drew the line in Georgia a few years ago.
The objective of these pipeline construction projects was to build a pipeline from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan, through Georgia and into to Turkey onto the destined Euro-Mediterranean markets. All the while bypassing Russia and allowing the European Economic Community to be free of Russian natural gas and Russia's Gazprom. Germany has been observed to be very nervous about all this and may be why it has been reported Germany planned to sell an estimated 200 German-built Leopard II tanks to Saudi Arabia (details on the number of tanks were not released). Russia's Vladimir Putin was in Saudi Arabia recently and Prince Bandar attempted bribing Vladimir Putin with $15 billion in weapon purchases. Incidentally, Prince Bandar has recently been released from his position as intelligence chief for Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis refused a pipeline across their country so they cut a deal with the U.S. Vladimir Putin apparently knew that and subsequently refused the deal. For the absolute best layman's summary and supporting links that is available, here is a discussion on Youtube in which many details are discussed. Well worth listening to if nothing else is known about the circumstances going on in that part of the world including this international criminal conspiracy and proxy war against Syria.
The Pipeline Wars (highly recommended for a good summary):
Syria's problem: they discovered huge natural gas deposits off their coast in the Levant including discoveries by the Israelis of natural gas deposits off the coast of Lebanon and Israel. If the Palestinians attempt making claims to natural gas deposits off the coast of Gaza they will be sabotaged at every juncture like they already have been.
Here's an image of the corporate energy resource storm trooper recruited and dispatched under "freedom", "patriotism", "democracy" and "fighting terrorism" against the all powerful ever threatening Al Qaeda organization. Education level about 8th grade. A non-sentient android-like automaton used as corporate canon fodder and absolutely no different in principle to the canon fodder foreign Islamic Jihadis launched at Syria out of Tunisia, Chechnya, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and many other countries. So here is what the corporate backing does for the Pentagon and their nexus of corporate soldier breeders. This guy here is the result: A Monsanto-created bovine somatotropin synthetic hormone-induced Nazi storm trooper. This isn't really surprising considering America today: it provides the corporate slave labor pool and weaponry for corporate energy cartels.
"We're building gas pipelines, I'm the American corporate contractor to make sure it gets built; if you don't like it take it up with Israel and Merhav."
The majority of the US corporate mercenaries (some get confused by calling them U.S. Soldiers) getting killed in Afghanistan were getting killed in the provinces of Helmand and Kandahar, which is where the TAPI (Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline) Pipeline is being constructed. It has been called as discussed in the Youtube discussion above as the "modern continuation of the silk road."
Fatalities in Afghanistan
President Obama will see to it that Syria is pulverized one way or another. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said recently: "President Obama has the right to bomb Syria." John Kerry is right, President Obama does have that right under private laws of corporate commerce through Executive Orders. It seems John McCain will stop at nothing until the first cruise missile is launched off the USS Barry (how appropriate a name re: Barry Soetoro) at Syria because he is an agent in place for Israel. One cruise missile costs on average $1 million dollars.
Think General Dynamics aren't excited about the prospect of seeing their 194 ship-mounted AGM-109 cruise missiles on those four frigates that were seen sitting in the Mediterranean last year August, 2013 about 600 nautical miles off Syria's coast (as of August, 2013) including the USS Barry fired at Syria?
It isn't about reforming the Syrian government, or changing the "regime", or "establishing democracy" as the western media constantly antagonizes the Syrian government about, it is about the destruction and destabilization of Syria just as Libya was destabilized to make Libya more compatible with Anglo-American-Isreal (NATO) geopolitical plans.
Tantamount to those plans are having "agents in place" like John McCain.
John McCain is an Israeli Asset
What would be the easiest and quickest way to move world markets away from nuclear energy to natural gas? Why of course, destroy the nuclear reactors in Fukushima, Japan and watch the public relations kick in and destroy nuclear power production. The propaganda against nuclear power has been particularly acute and intense, most of it unfounded. Not that this is advocating for the nuclear power industry either, it is rather to suggest a serious economic motive for destroying the nuclear industry and replace it with natural gas. ENENEWS.com site keeps a constant vigilance on the news coming out of Japan concerning the nuclear reactors in Fukushima. It also keeps track of the nuclear industry itself contributing significantly to the growing criticism and rightly so of nuclear energy.
ENENEWS - ENERGY NEWS
Jim Stone's research puts Israel in the public's eye for sabotaging the nuclear reactors in Fukushima, Japan. While simultaneously there is this huge push towards natural gas production with the large deposits in the Caspian Basin in Terkmenistan and pipeline construction controlled by an alleged ex-Mossad agent, Yosef A. Maiman, and his group of companies the Merhav Group. These connections go all the way to the Council on Foreign Relations and American-based think tanks. It has been reported also that the Merhav Group funnels money back into the Mossad.
On February 18, 2014, China.org.cn released an article suggesting "Japan owes the world an explanation over weapon-grade plutonium stockpile" which gives Jim Stone's evidence that Isreal was involved in the sabotage of Fukushima even more credibility. Was plutonium being developed at the nuclear reactor facility in Fukushima and is this further evidence this may in fact be why Israel sabotaged this nuclear facility?

Natural gas pipelines and maps
February 20, 2014
Some further detailed analysis (not the kind of analysis done by energy cartels that cloud over the killing and destruction required to take possession of gas and oil fields camouflaging the theft of energy resources in "terrorism") is offered on pipeline construction projects collating a lot of work from other sources all converging on this issue concerning energy re: natural gas which will be the energy source well into the 21st century.
The Henry Jackson Society (British neo-cons) prepared an analysis on Israel's strategic worth to the EU outlining several significant facts worth noting which is why it is in the best interest of both the UK and the U.S. to work closely with Israel in its achieving energy independence. As noted in this paper by the Henry Jackson Society, "Israel has more companies on NASDAQ than any country outside North America, the third-highest rate of entrepreneurship – and the highest among women – and is the world’s sixth-largest producer of military technology." With this kind of advanced technical ability and industry is it any wonder why Israel is deeply concerned about its future energy needs and why 40 percent of natural gas produced in Egypt goes to Israel?
The Henry "Scoop" Jackson Society being well connected to the City of London is probably where the American neo-cons headed after an enormous American-based resentment built up in America against the neo-cons during the Bush-Cheney regime in 2005. It is worth gleaning anything available from this neo-con direction from any official policy papers being put out on Israel and the gas and oil sector by the Henry Jackson Society. The people at the Henry Jackson Society thought Syria was going to be a "cake walk." Not so, the Syrian Arab Army and the government of Syria have put up tremendous resistance with Iran, Russia and Hezbollah backing.
Conclusion seems to be beyond all doubt that what we are seeing in Syria is a fight to the death in a proxy war on Syria where foreign Jihadi canon fodder have been used to assault Syria in what is turning out to be the most brutal and vicious urban guerrilla war in all of modern history. The Levant Basin is where the largest reserves of natural gas known at present are sitting at about five-thousand feet under the Mediterranean. Russia's Gazprom has proven engineering capacity to extract this gas having developed to a high level and extremely deep well-drilling technical capacity. The development of the Leviathan gas basin is expected to cost the U.S.-Israel consortium US$4.5 billion to develop.
Leviathan gas field
This is why Russia (Gazprom) has essentially took control of Cyprus. Russia's Gazprom as complicated as it seems, already has concessions for gas (liquid LNG) from Israel's control of two other large gas fields, the Tamar gas field and the Leviathan gas field.
Tamar gas field off the coast of Israel
The MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries include Syria which stands to become one of the wealthiest countries of the MENA group if the Syrian government can maintain its hold on power. This proxy war on Syria partially financed by Qatar and Saudi Arabia is for control of the Levant Basin which Syria has direct access to off its coast on the Mediterranean. At one point, the U.S. sided with Syria in a dispute with Israel over this huge geographical location but after a follow-up assessment turned against Syria (see above links).
It would seem Syria is being dismantled because it is at the nexus of power in the region should the Syrian government capture that wealth in the form of natural gas deposits sitting under the Levant Basin. This basin in the Mediterranean contains what is known as one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world. Syria could potentially become one of the wealthiest states in the region and this is why Qatar does not look too lightly on competition from Syria.
Here is by far the best summary available that does a really good job at outlining what is at stake in Syria. When the French and British decided the boundaries for Syria when Syria was under colonization concluding with the Sykes-Picot Agreement, there was no way of knowing obviously how much gas would be discovered years later, and that gas will become the energy source of the future well into the 21st century.
Struggle over the Middle East: Gas Ranks First
Finian Cunningham wrote an article published at Veterans Today discussing the ten most used smears by the Anglo-American media against Syria. A bit long and dense but well worth taking the time to read.
Top Ten western Smears on Syria
After reading the above article by Finian Cunningham on Syria it can be ascertained how the Anglo-Americans are currently running a propaganda blitz against Russia, Vladimir Putin and Gazprom. While at the same time Russians and the Syrians are probably asking themselves a similar question in their media: "Why is the U.S. and the UK in Iraq and Afghanistan?"
Lawrence Solomon: Why Rusia is in Syria
Here is the Council on Foreign Relations (essential reading to see where Anglo-American power is being directed) article on Vladimir Putin's Gazprom "problem." It isn't Vladimir Putin's "problem." It is the Anglo-American problem now because Russia has so far diplomatically sabotaged the American-Anglo-Isreali assault on Syria through the UN and has been fulfilling its contracts for weapons and munitions deliveries to Syria.
Vladimir Putin's Gazprom Problem: How the Kremlin Accidentally Liberalized Russia's natural Gas Market
Maps of the current and projected major gas pipeline construction projects in the region estimated at billions of dollars in lucrative contracts and Syria is at the nexus of this current proxy war for control of energy resources. Imagine the backlash if people suddenly discovered these are war/s over natural gas?
This is perhaps why terrorism must be stroked geo-politically into existence then deliberately fueled. To distract everyone's attention. This explains why what is happening in Syria is so complicated; because there are private corporate energy interests all vying for power placing governments at each other's throats by using foreign proxies to do their killing for them in Syria all under cover of an elaborate nurtured into existence organization called "Al Qaeda" and using the pretext of a "war on terrorism."
A bit of graphics and descriptions of these gas pipelines to bring readers up to speed on the pipeline projects:
The South Stream Pipeline
The South Stream pipeline is a gas pipeline to transport Russian natural gas through the Black Sea to Bulgaria and further to Greece, Italy and Austria. The project is seen as rival to the planned Nabucco pipeline. Construction started in December 2012, with the first commercial deliveries expected to begin in late 2015.
The Nabucco pipeline was a proposed natural gas pipeline from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to Austria. It is a modification of the original Nabucco Pipeline project, which was to run from Erzurum in Turkey to Baumgarten an der March in Austria. The aim of the Nabucco pipeline is to diversify the natural gas suppliers and delivery routes for Europe, thus reducing European dependence on Russian energy (Gazprom).
The Russian gas pipelines (Gazprom)
Arab Gas Pipeline (straight though Syria)
The Arab Gas Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline in the Middle East. It exports Egyptian natural gas to Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, with a branch underwater pipeline to Israel. It has a total length of 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) at a cost of US$1.2 billion.
And finally, everyone missed this one or they don't understand the significance. The king of Qatar's own personal quest to become the "King of Gas" (flatulence) through the Dolphin pipeline in the region and why he is apparently partially financing the essentially foreign Islamic fanatical Jihadi mercenaries rampaging through Syria from an alleged more than 29 different countries who are paid a monthly salary to kill Syrians and destroy the country of Syria. "King Fatso" as he is called, has apparently sunk an estimated to date $3 billon into the till to destroy Syria.
