Missing the Point on Benghazi
AFP: Real scandal centers on gunrunning
By Victor Thorn
It could be a scandal bigger than Watergate or Iran-Contra, yet the breadth of this illegal weapons trafficking operation involving high-ranking government officials linked to a military-industrial outfit named Beacon Global Strategies LLC (BGS) may prevent the actual truth from ever emerging. Instead, dog-and-pony congressional committees investigating what happened at a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya two years ago continue to divert the public’s attention by focusing on talking points, emails and videos.
The story of the scandal begins on the evening of Sept. 11, 2012, when the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was attacked by over 100 armed men. By the time it was over several hours later, four Americans had been killed, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
At first U.S. government officials tried to cover up the attack by portraying it as a spontaneous action carried out by an angry mob responding to an anti-Muslim video posted to the Internet. But as time went on, the world realized that the event was a highly orchestrated assault on a U.S. facility.
The importance of covering up the gunrunning scheme by blaming it on a video that only aired in Egypt for a few minutes on Sept. 9, 2012 surfaced when watchdog organization Judicial Watch obtained a previously concealed email originating from Ben Rhodes, President Barack Obama’s deputy national security advisor. It’s worth noting that Rhodes’s brother, David, is the president of CBS News.
On May 1, Judicial Watch’s director of public affairs Jill Farrell told American Free Press: “These documents were provided in response to a court-ordered FOIA lawsuit. They contained narrowly defined information behind the talking points that former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice used on the Sept. 16, 2012 Sunday morning talk shows.”
But by focusing on how the cover-up was carried out, investigators have missed the bigger story behind Benghazi: a secret gunrunning operation set up to arm terrorists fighting the government of Syria. American Free Press, in the Aug. 26, 2013 edition, was one of the first media outlets to report on the primary players at the heart of this matter:
“In August 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton proposed [the smuggling of armaments from Libya to Syria] to CIA Director David Petraeus, who assigned U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens to handle the logistics of this clandestine operation,” this writer wrote in AFP’s issue No. 34 in 2013.
In late April 2014, this information was verified by two sources. First, famed investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reported that the CIA and the State Department oversaw the black operation to run guns from Libya to Syria. And second, on April 22, the Citizens Commission on Benghazi cited former CIA agent Clare Lopez’s revelation that the intelligence community and State Department briefed top leaders in Congress on this unlawful enterprise.
In early 2012, the Obama administration had arranged financing from Qatar and Saudi Arabia for the Libya-to-Syria weapons transport, with Turkish President Recep Erdogan acting as their pivot-man.
Proof of these extra-governmental rat lines arrived when the CIA’s No. 2 man under Petraeus, Michael Morell, testified on April 2 before a House Intelligence Committee that 33 CIA agents were on the ground in Benghazi when the attacks occurred. CIA mouthpieces at Langley, however, quashed the reports of what transpired in favor of a more watered-down version, which never mentioned arms sales. Morell is currently a counselor at Beacon Global Strategies LLC and is a consultant to Mrs. Hillary Clinton.
In a Jan. 15th Senate Intelligence Committee report, Gen. Carter Ham, the head of the U.S. military’s Africa Command, said, “[I] was not even aware there was a CIA annex in Benghazi.”
Had the administration of Barack Obama acted swiftly, Ambassador Chris Stevens might possibly have been saved. The question is: Did they want him dead?
He also divulged that U.S. Ambassador Stevens twice refused Department of Defense security offers. General Ham testified that his primary contact in Benghazi was Andrew Shapiro, [Beacon Global Strategies LLC] the former assistant secretary of state under Mrs. Clinton.
When news of the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi broke, U.S. intelligence in Benghazi realized within 15 minutes that an orchestrated attack was taking place, not a protest fueled by a video that had been posted to the Internet.
They immediately informed General Ham, who notified Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. Interestingly, Panetta’s chief of staff at that time was Jeremy B. Bash [Bash's bio provided off of Beacon Global Strategies' web site], who has since gone on to cofound Beacon Global Strategies LLC.
Leon E. Panetta met with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office to update him on the event. As panic spread through the White House, Mrs. Clinton prepared step one of the coverup, issuing the following statement at 10 p.m. on Sept. 11: “Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet.”
By Mrs. Clinton’s side at the time, helping to construct the smokescreen, was senior advisor Philippe Reines, who’s been described as Mrs. Clinton’s principal gatekeeper and fixer. Reines was also another Beacon Global Strategies LLC cofounder.
Bringing this sordid mess full circle, specifically the amount of effort exerted on concealing criminal activities, former Bill Clinton senior advisor Dick Morris announced last month: “Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, was charged with investigating the adequacy of security at the Benghazi compound prior to the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. His wife, Kristi Clemens Rogers, was president and CEO of the company [AEGIS Defense Services] contracted by [Hillary Clinton’s] State Department to provide that security.”
Who, pray tell, was Mike Rogers’s staff director? None other than Michael Allen, another Beacon Global Strategies LLC cofounder.
Contrary to what Jeremy Bash discusses in this video clip about the "Syrian regime using chemical weapons", evidence proves that it was the foreign fanatical Islamic Takfiri and Wahhabi mercenaries fighting against the Syrian government who used chemical weapons. Jeremy Bash advocated that the Obama Administration "act militarily on Syria" as of the date of this CNN interview. Jeremy B. Bash is now Founder and Managing Director of Beacon Global Strategies LLC based in Washington DC.

Andrew J. Shapiro served as the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs between 2009 and 2013 where he revitalized and deepened political-military partnerships at home and abroad, and promoted record-setting foreign military sales alleged to have resulted in the creation of "thousands of jobs in the United States while contributing to the security of key U.S. partners." Providing jobs in the United States by selling F-15s to Saudi Arabia - while according to Victor Thorn in the AFP article above, Saudi Arabia and Qatar were financing the transshipment of weapons and munitions from Libya to Syria, to be used by Islamic Takfiri and Wahhabi mercenaries unleashed on Syria from Saudi Arabia. Yesterday in Syria, a Saudi commander of the Al-Nusra Front group was killed in Aleppo, Syria by the Syrian Arab Army fighting these mercenaries in Syria. Andrew J. Shapiro is also a Founder and Managing Director of Beacon Global Strategies LLC.

In September 2012, Philippe Reines vehemently took issue with CNN over its use of Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens's diary, which CNN allegedly found at the site of the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, which killed Ambassador Stevens along with Sean Smith, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer, and two CIA contractors, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. As discussed in the AFP article above, Michael Morell testified that there were "33 CIA agents in Benghazi" at the time of the death of these four Americans. What could these 33 CIA agents have been doing in Libya except running "rat lines" of weapons and munitions out of Benghazi, Libya transshipped to Syria through Turkey? Michael J. Morell is Counselor for Beacon Global Strategies LLC.
CNN responded to Philippe Reines by suggesting that the U.S. State Department was "attacking the messenger" because of "questions about why the U.S. State Department didn’t do more to protect Ambassador Stevens." Some media critics sided with CNN and questioned whether Reines' real grievance was indeed with CNN's disrespect for the privacy wishes of Stevens' family; BuzzFeed published an email exchange between Philippe Reines and Michael Hastings where the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State told Hastings to "Fuck off." Prior to Michael Hastings, a contributing editor to Rolling Stone, dying in questionable circumstances, Hastings allegedly was preparing a major story. Hastings died in a fiery high-speed automobile crash on June 18, 2013, in Los Angeles, California. Reines also took issue with a reporter's questions in December 2012, calling a Fox News correspondent's question about his boss Hillary Clinton "absolutely asinine."

Editorial: These people in a very real sense are living and behaving in a destructive matrix of their own making. That is precisely what these corporate colleges and universities such as Georgetown, Harvard and Columbia are cranking out: corporate matrix automatons hard-wired for corporate fascism. Now combine that with their narcissism.
These people get the "avalanche" started from the top without concern for what happens below: witness the enormous amount of destruction and death in Syria, where entire cities have been flattened and ancient historically valuable archeological sites destroyed. They just have an idea of a perfect society and their technocratic systems to run it all, but the overwhelmingly obvious flaw is that people don't respond as inanimate objects. They live. They interact with one another. They breathe and they do what suits their own interests (as they should), which is why we have laws and fiduciary responsibility, and need public officials with integrity.
Our problems are a catastrophic failure of leadership at the top. Not a failure actually - endemic massive corruption at the top causing our society to fail.
