Reports of a shootout are disputed

The family of an Adams County rancher involved in an encounter with two sheriff's deputies says the deputies killed him in a "completely unjustified" shooting.

Survivors of Jack Yantis, the 62-year-old who died a week ago in the darkness on U.S. 95 north of Council, say they will pursue claims against Adams County for Yantis’ death.

Donna Yantis spent her 63rd birthday Thursday at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she has been recovering from a heart attack she suffered after her husband was killed.

Family members have shared with the Statesman their account of what happened last Sunday night. The account is in written statements prepared with attorneys the family hired after the incident, a video statement Donna Yantis made from her Boise hospital bed, and a draft transcript the lawyers prepared of one family member's account of what happened.

The Statesman also interviewed several family members, including Rowdy Paradis, a nephew of the couple's who said he witnessed the shootings.

"Law enforcement should be trained to de-escalate situations," said Rowdy Paradis. "In this case, I stood 10 feet away and watched two deputies escalate the situation and needlessly kill a man."

Sheriff Ryan Zollman did not respond Saturday to an emailed request for comment on the family's account or to a message left with a sheriff's dispatcher.

Here is what the family says happened on Nov. 1:

A PHONE CALL AT DINNER

The Yantises, Paradis (pronounced PAR-a-dis) and a family friend, Joe Rumsey, were finishing dinner about 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the Yantises' home near milepost 142 of U.S. 95, about 6 miles north of Council.
"They had been together since they were little kids. This was their dream. I mean, he cut logs for 20 years to pay for this place." - Nephew Rowdy Paradis on Jack and Donna Yantis and their ranch
An Adams County Sheriff's Office dispatcher called. One of the family's bulls had just been hit by a car on the highway, and the Yantises needed to go take care of it.

In rural open range, collisions between vehicles and livestock are not uncommon. Ranchers often must put down the injured animals. Jack Yantis had unfortunately done it before.

Yantis had raised and tamed the 2,500-pound black Gelbvieh bull, similar to an Angus, named Keiford. Its rear leg was shattered by the collision with a Subaru station wagon. The bull started charging people at the crash scene.

Paradis walked down to check out the situation. The injured bull had made its way back to the driveway and was lying in the grass.

"He knew he was home," Paradis said. "He was hurt. But he is still an Angus bull on the fight."

DEPUTIES SHOOT BULL

Jack Yantis told Paradis to get a rifle, the family's skid-steer loader (a small front-end loader) and a chain. Paradis in turn asked his aunt to the get the family’s .204-caliber rifle and bring it to the road.

Yantis took a small all-terrain vehicle, in this case a four-wheeler, down the driveway and parked it on the highway facing the animal.
"Jack went to the end of the driveway to end the bull's life and protect anyone from getting hurt, including the very deputies who shot and killed him."  -Donna Yantis, widow
Donna Yantis, widow

While Paradis was getting the skid loader, the deputies started shooting at the bull. At least one of them had a semiautomatic rifle, perhaps an AR-15, an adaptation of the military M16.

"They opened up with their pistols and their M16s ... before Jack got there," Paradis said. "That's an inhumane deal. ... This is a 2-ton Angus bull that's pissed off, he's hurt and psychotic. ... It was blazing down there and it sounded like World War III on this bull, because they got him charging at everyone again."

Paradis drove the skid loader down the driveway and parked on the highway. The bull was lying on the pavement. Donna Yantis had walked the rifle to her husband. Jack Yantis was standing about 4 feet from the bull, aiming the rifle at the back of the bull's head. His back was to the two deputies, who were standing in the far lane facing each other as if they were having a conversation.

"I put the (skid loader's) lights on him and the bull, and he lined up to shoot the bull in the back of head and put him out humanely," Paradis said.

DEPUTIES SHOOT YANTIS

The rifle’s barrel was about 2 feet from the bull, and Jack Yantis' finger was on the trigger.

"Everything was going as planned. … I did not notice any conversation at all" between Jack Yantis and the deputies, Paradis said. "Then the one cop turned around and grabbed his shoulder and jerked him backwards."

The deputy came from behind, spun Yantis around and grabbed the rifle's scope, Paradis said.

The deputy pushed Yantis. The rifle was still in Yantis' hands, its barrel pointed at the ground. Yantis was trying to regain his footing.

Paradis said he does not know whether the rifle fired, but he thinks it might have discharged accidentally when the deputy grabbed Yantis and spun him, or when one of the deputy's bullets pierced Yantis' hand holding the rifle, hitting the gun and damaging it.

One deputy began shooting at Yantis, then the other deputy started shooting.

HANDCUFFS AND A HEART ATTACK

Donna Yantis said she and Paradis screamed at the deputies to stop.

Shot in the chest and abdomen, Jack Yantis fell to the ground. Neither deputy went to check on him. Paradis and Donna Yantis started running toward him.

"And then they threatened me and my nephew ... threw us on the middle of Highway 95, searched us and handcuffed us, and wouldn't let us go take care of Jack," Donna Yantis said.

Paradis said one deputy pointed his gun at Paradis' head.

Donna Yantis had a heart attack. Some time later, she was taken by ambulance to Midvale and then by helicopter to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she remained hospitalized Saturday.

Rumsey, the family friend at dinner, had been near the wrecked car when the shooting started and ran toward Jack. The deputies handcuffed him, too.

'IT WAS A SENSELESS MURDER'

One deputy said he had been grazed by a bullet, Rumsey said. "I asked him, 'Where?' I said, 'That's bull----.' There was no blood, no torn thread, no powder burn. There was nothing."

After the shooting, Paradis said, the deputies' demeanor was "smug" and "almost celebratory."

A deputy walked over, pulled Yantis' rifle from under his body and threw it into the grass.

"There was no shootout. It was a senseless murder," the Yantis' daughter, Sarah, told the Statesman.

Jack Yantis was an Idaho Rancher killed in front of his wife and nephew on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the hands of two Adam’s County Sheriffs. His wife suffered a massive heart attack on the spot.

Did you know that the problem is in the inhuman POST training that is a federally run nation wide 'one size fits all' with little care for the demographics it will be applied in, where the new officers are told that their lives are put in-front of the citizens. Many GOOD seasoned officers that are REAL MEN know this and are fed-up with this mind set from the bully in rank saying.

"DON'T GET POST TRAUMATIC, GIVE IT"

—-HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED—

Idaho rancher's wife: 'I saw them murder my husband' This is where the problem is. No need for long ISP investigation as all the eye witnesses accounts are clear.

The officers did as trained and that training puts everyone lives in more danger than ANY would be criminal.

Idaho Citizens are the court on this one and it would be wise for the LEO's that have some good hearts and >GUTS< to stand up against the bureaucracy and - break ranks - from the THIN BLUE LINE for Idaho is not California and citizens in this state and across this nation are rapidly losing what little trust they have with this out of control good old BULLY boy system that harms the public more than the east German police did under Communist rule as reported by folks who now live in this state that where living in east Germany at the time and say this …

So in conclusion the only thing that can fix this is an entire review of POST training and accountability not to the courts with robes and cover ups but by the Citizens court of public opinion from the $ spent on full disclosure in a citizens audit to oversight of post training.

That very court ruled effectively at the Bundy ranch with no one being harmed and the bully law standing down from ARMED citizens. That rancher, Cliven Bundy, lives to this day unlike our beloved Jack Yantis who's only crime was doing the humane thing putting the bull down just like any rancher would do in this situation.

BOMBSHELL: Deputy Accused In Jack Yantis Killing Is An FBI-Trained Sniper, Was Previously Sued For Roughing Up 79-Year-Old: TIME TO NAME THE IDAHO SHERIFFS

By Martin Hill

November 30, 2015

I have a big problem with the fact that those two sheriffs in Idaho who killed rancher Jack Yantis remain anonymous on paid vacation under "police protection,' as if the public at large are 'dangerous, murderous maniacs' who don't value sacred human life - when in reality the exact opposite is true - this is exactly what Yantis' killers are.

Adams County, Idaho Sheriff Ryan Zollman, while he refused to name the sheriffs involved, confirmed at the Council, ID town hall meeting several weeks ago that the names of the two deputies had already been published in social media. Two separate sources in Council, Idaho have contacted LibertyFight.com and confirmed this information - and much more, so we are sharing it today. LibertyFight.com does the job that the compromised, controlled corporate media refuses to do.

Rest in Peace, Jack Yantis

While Adams County, Idaho Sheriff Ryan Zollman (link is external) cries for TV cameras claiming that he and his family have received death threats, he refuses to name the perpetrators, who are on paid vacation and have 24-hour armed protection from police agencies.

Anyone in America accused of killing a police officer would have their name and photograph published immediately, worldwide. So why the double standard? We're supposed to believe that just because someone wears a badge, they should remain anonymous after slaughtering an innocent man? That is insane, degraded nonsense, and LibertyFight.com puts a stop to it today. I have law enforcement on both sides of my family. Being a law enforcement officer comes with great perks as well as grave responsibilities: to enforce the law while respecting the God-given rights of the people. We do not need to treat them with kid gloves and offer them special privileges as if they are some sort of 'pagan gods' to be worshiped or idolized.

The first is Deputy Brian Wood. He is pictured to the left. There are more photos of him below. On September 9, 2013, Wood was switched to full time employment with the Adams County Sheriff's office. Ironically, at that same meeting, Adams County Commissioner Mike Paradis, brother-in-law of Jack Yantis, proposed a raise for the deputies. [ records here.] Brian Wood is actually an FBI-trained SNIPER and an elected GOP Republican Party official!! More on that below.

In July 2011, when he worked as an officer for the McCall, Idaho Police Dept., Brian Wood was accused of roughing up a 79-year old man! Rodney T. Whaley filed a civil rights lawsuit over the incident, in which he claimed he was "forcefully seized by the arms and slammed to the hood of a police car, causing him to lose consciousness." The Boise Weekly reported "Whaley was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in McCall and was later booked into the Valley County Jail for resisting and obstructing officers. The charges were later dismissed." Despite initially demanding a jury trial, Wood and the city backed down and paid up. Wood left the department and the city paid out $14,500 to Whaley in order to settle the claim.

...Enough of Woods for now. Now we will will move on to the second Sheriff, Cody Roland. Roland is the guy who, according to my source, has a history of swaggering around acting like a jerk to his neighbors and is confident that he will be exonerated in the Jack Yantis case. When he first moved in to the 'seized' house, Cody Roland walked across the street in plain clothes, introduced himself to the homeowner (who was having a beer with friends) and said he was a deputy. The cop then started to write down everyone's license plate numbers.

....By the way, one disgusting note, these people are posting various things on Facebook within days of when Jack Yantis was killed.

Here is the Facebook Page of "CODY ROWLLAND", ('ROWLLAND' is how he spelled it, but notice the URL says his real name, 'cody roland.' Perhaps to hide from searches from the public. Cody Roland is Facebook friends with Brian Wood. Cody seems to be much more sophisticated in social media than the rest of them; he scrapped 82 mobile uploads two weeks ago and deleted 30 profile pictures a month ago, right after Jack Yantis was killed. To the right is the only picture posted on his Facebook page, so one might assume it is him, although it could be someone else.

Here is Sheriff Ryan Zollman's Facebook Page. For someone who claims that he and his family is being threatened, he sure doesn't take basic common sense precautions to provide them privacy. Unbelievable. I don't, by the way believe that the sheriff has received death threats at all. I e-mailed Zollman earlier this month asking him several pointed questions, including why, as Sheriff, hasn't he prosecuted any of these alleged death-threaters. He has refused to reply. That in itself, especially if the accusation threats were true, is proof enough that Zollman is completely incompetent. He has the state and federal governments backing him up with full force and yet he cannot even prosecute alleged people who have threatened his and his family's lives? That is beyond absurd on the face of it. Do a search for 'threats on the internet' and you will, within seconds, find hundreds of thousands of cases that have been prosecuted and people arrested.

....As far as other places where these two officers have been named; The following comment was posted via Facebook over two weeks ago on an Idaho Statesman article entitled Protesters march against the shooting of Council rancher Jack Yantis (link is external).

Facebook user Jason Patrick (link is external) wrote: "Now that i have been here in Cousil Idaho, the community where Jack Yantis was killed by police....I believe the names of the officers involved are Brian Wood and Cody Roland. I believe Brian Wood has some skeletons in his closet from a prior department. I believe Sherriff Ryan Zollman may have found out Brian Wood lied on his application for employment and didn't do anything about it. I believe some of the citizens in this town are afraid to say what needs to be said. I believe the officers body camera footage needs to be at least partially released to validate it exists. I believe if it doesn't exist there is enough evidence to charge the officers." Like - Reply - 6 - Nov 14, 2015 5:25pm

The Idaho Statesman did not delete the comment.

The sheriffs were also named here in this discussion thread at 24hourcampfire.com (link is external).

By the way- I've posted the screenshots before. We are 'watching the watchers.' The State of Idaho has been lurking at my sites for weeks (link is external) reading through all my Jack Yantis Archives (link is external) (along with many other states and local governments, as well as international govts.) The Yantis family lawyer is following me on Twitter. I've got screenshots of all of it. We also know that the Sheriff knows who my sources are. They are good righteous people, and if anything happens to them - any harassment or harm whatsoever- in your podunk shit town, your goose is cooked. I've given my sources names to others whom I trust in the alternative media who will release it all in a heartbeat if meed be.

Glory to God in the highest and may the soul of dearly beloved Jack Yantis rest in peace. And may the perpetrators of this horrific crime repent for their own sake, and be properly prosecuted and brought to justice.

"Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them, for it is shameful even to mention the things done by them in secret; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light. Ephesians 5:10-13

  1. I believe some of these incidents, showing folk being executed in the streets of America are staged. I think the actual illegal killings are carried out by foreign mercenaries embedded as US cops. No different than assassins brought in to achieve a certain goal. Look deeper. You will see it. These people are not cops. They are mercenary COP ACTORS. Exactly like terror actors and crisis actors. Divide/Conquer/Trojan Horse/War Crime lalapalooza. Instigators. Agents Provocateurs. Paid troublemakers. Desired results? Chaos in the streets of the nation formerly known as America. It IS working.

  3. At the point when this place is so forward, then it is somewhat regular that city is similarly inclined to violations and assaults. London was the prime focus of the fear mongers amid the previous couple of years, thus security turns into a gigantic worry to ensure the general population's enthusiasm for UK. this content
